Tips for Choosing the Perfect Photo
DETAILS, DETAILS
Crisp, well-lit, up-close photographs with plenty of detail are the best. The more detail in the photo, the more detail I will be able to add in the drawing.
NOSE-LEVEL
So many of the photos we have of our furry friends are from a high angle, but portraits are typically at more of a straight-on perspective. If you can get down and take a nose-level shot, it will make for a better portrait.
WHEN IN DOUBT, SEND MORE
If you aren't sure which photo to choose, or if you like different features in a couple different photographs, don't hesitate to submit multiple shots and we can discuss what will work best.
DON'T USE PORTRAIT MODE
The portrait mode on our phones is a great way to fake the soft, blurred-background bokeh effect that you get with a wide lens camera. However, portrait mode also tends to make the outline of the subject soft and blurred as well, so some of the wonderful fur details get lost. If all you have is a picture that was taken in portrait mode, don't worry...I can work with it. But if you have the option, standard photo mode will give the best results.
Ordering + Payment
If you are interested in ordering a custom drawing, please fill out the Order Request form below. I'll contact you via email about submitting photos. I can help as much as you'd like to help pick a photo that will make a great custom drawing. Upon receiving your photo submissions via my email KellySommervilleArt@gmail.com, I will provide you with a digital layout proof to confirm that you are completely happy with the size and placement of the image on the page. Once I receive approval of the layout, I will then confirm with you my lead time and give you the go-ahead to send payment. After payment is received, I will begin work on your drawing.
